ASDACS is pleased to welcome Di Drew and confirm the re appointment of Grant Campbell, Kevin Lucas, Megan Simpson Huberman, Pat Fiske and Stephen Wallace to the ASDACS board. Many thanks to all incumbent board members for their unwavering passion. Our gratitude goes out to Stephen Wallace for his exceptional service, his knowledge is incalculable.
It has been a successful year. Despite the pandemic, the finances for 2020 were only slightly down from 2019. Income for the year was $1,969,627. A total of $1,637,719 was transferred for distributed funds to directors and the cultural fund. Net profit $17,796. Distribution for the year to members was $1,458,431.

The ACCC has granted authorisation to the Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society Ltd (ASDACS) to make its membership conditional on directors assigning to it all of the copyrights they have in relation to the retransmission of the non-commissioned films they direct
It has been a good year for ASDACS. Total collections for the 2019 year were $1,982,630 (up 13% from last year), this is the largest yearly collection we’ve ever had. Distributions to members during the year (2018 Income) totalled $1,267,898. The administration percentage remains at 15%. The five-year average is 18%.

Busan, South Korea, 8 October 2019 - Audiovisual creators from around Asia-Pacific gathered today in South Korea at the Busan International Film Festival for the official launch of the Alliance of Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Writers and Directors (AAPA). The alliance’s mission is to become the voice for Asia-Pacific audiovisual creators. It will be a platform for audiovisual creators to share, connect and communicate, advocate for stronger copyright protections and further their interests in Asia-Pacific.
Leading Australian actors, directors, crew, writers and producers are in Canberra today and tomorrow in a united push to convince Parliament to introduce local content requirements for booming digital viewing platforms.

While Australia collects a significant amount from TV and radio for the audiovisual artistic repertoire, according to CISAC’s 2018 Global Collections Report, the rest of the region shows great additional potential if laws are improved and new societies created.

The Federation of European Film Directors (FERA), the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe (FSE) and the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA) welcome the European Parliament’s final vote on the Copyright Directive in the Digital Single Market. This is a great achievement for European authors.
The Australian Directors’ Guild has announced the nominees for the 2019 Australian Directors’ Guild Awards (ADG Awards) and Warwick Thornton, Garth Davis, Joel Edgerton and Anthony Maras have been nominated in the category of Best Direction in a Feature Film (Budget $1M or over) for their respective films Sweet Country, Mary Magdalene, Boy Erased and Hotel Mumbai. The winners of the 2019 ADG Awards will be announced at a Gala Ceremony on Monday 6 May at the City Recital Hall in Sydney.
