The year of change continues with the retirement of Megan Simpson Huberman and Grant Campbell (NZ representative) from the board. We would like to extend our gratitude as they contributed greatly to ASDACS current stability. This year they helped oversee the modernisation of the constitution and the implementation of both the strategic and risk mitigation plans. The board also implemented the governance training for all board members. On that note we would like to welcome Howard Taylor (NZ representative) who’s expected appointment is due in November. Howard is an experienced film practitioner and served on the DEGANZ board since its inception over 25 years ago. He was President for 5 years before recently stepping down. The board wishes to thank Deb Jackson and her team for continued excellence. The key takeaways for the year are listed below.

Finance
- Total collections for the year: $1,668,069.
- Distributions to members during the year: $1,375,021.
- -17% decrease in overall collections due to COVID and reduction of back payments.
- Screenrights (domestic) income more than doubled (Total: $44,951).
- $63,280 funds used from the ASDACS reserves to decrease the admin fee charged to members. to 21.47% (increase in admin fee predominantly due to combined 18mth income for distribution).
- Expenditure has remained stable (2021-2022: $309,228 compared with 2020: $311,440 FY).
- $5,000 - DEGANZ Director’s Emerging Women Filmmakers Incubator Masterclass.
- $28,452 used on database and governance development.
- $3,684 distributed to members (closed funds).
- $46,959 new funds allocated to the development pool.
Cultural and Charitable purposes fund
- $70,000 - ADG National Development Program & ADG Awards.
- $12,000 - Motion Picture Industry Benevolent Society (to assist directors and industry professionals in need).
- $1,000 - CISAC Ukrainian war creator’s appeal.
- $66,722 new cultural funds transferred.
Development
- $28,452 used on database and governance development.
- $3,684 distributed to members (closed funds).
- $46,959 new funds allocated to the development pool.
Membership
- Membership increase: 6% (Total:1428).
- Membership Copyright Assignment: 58% (Total:850) Members signed.
Global Collections and Collecting Society Partnerships
- Worldwide audio-visual collections declined by -2.8% (due to the effects of COVID).
- New collecting society partner, AGADU (Uruguay) currently in negotiation.
Other activities:
